This large, fully air conditioned architect designed villa with private pool near Hania on the Mediterranean island of Crete, is tucked away among olive groves in a quiet countryside location close to Kato Daratsos' Kalamaki beach and the resort of Chania.
The internal design includes internal balconies and an elevator (lift), with large windows and patio doors that open onto terraces and panaromic views to the coast.

VILLA CATANI
The villa is an impressive a stone building of fine architectural design with a light well, interior balconies
folding glass doors
and three-sided glass panels
that allow free lines of vision. The structure combines elements of Cretan traditional architectural characteristics such as: stone walls, ceramic roof with exposed beams.
Outside, a gently sloping lawn leads down to the pool with its paved terrace and shady sitting terrace. The interior is equipped and furnished with zest, to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Rugs, family antiques, needle works and Katerina's landscape paintings and still life art give Villa Catani even more character. Extremely spacious inside,
Catani provides privacy for the larger party with it's many balconies and sitting areas – including an impressive dining deck from which lovely views can be enjoyed.
The design of the house (inside and outside balconies) and terraces mean that toddlers and small children will require extra supervision (protection plastic fences can be placed on demand, prior to arrival).
The house has been designed to be wheelchair friendly, with accessible entrances throughout. Access and mobility features include an interior elevator (lift), a ground floor roll-in shower and main floor assessible bathroom - see lower down this page for more details.
RENTAL ACCOMMODATION
Ground floor:
Studio: Double bedroom + couch (sleeps 2-3)
with sitting area (a couch can be opened to form a bed), kitchenette, and bathroom.
Big bedroom (sleeps 2-5): Twin beds, crib and a folding sofa that can make a double bed. Sitting area and own roll-in shower.
Main floor:
Open plan kitchen/dining room leading to outside dining terrace,
living room,
A twin bedroom,
with a bathroom next door.
Upper level:
Twin bedroom with small en suite shower room
A further double bedroom, with family antiques
and a twin bedroom that shares
the bathroom.
Accessible features / Entrance
A stone ramp leads to the main entrance.
Entrances to the ground floor studio, west bedroom and games room are level. Entrance to main floor is accessible from the parking, from the dinning terrace by the kitchen and by the open-air tower's deck. The upper floor is accessed only with the cargo lift and there is a problem with the access to this floor's tower deck as it is a step down and the portable wooden ramp doesn't allow the door to be closed.
There are two accessible washrooms: a roll-in shower at the ground floor and a bathroom at the main floor. Both have 45cm high toilettes (with 8 cm added lids), accessible washbasins, gripping bars. The bath-lid is 53cm high. The small step at its entrance is accessed by a portable wooden ramp. The ground floor's newly installed roll-in shower room has a 90cm wide door that opens outwards and outside washbasin.
The other shower room and bathrooms have a small step, inward doors and not enough room to maneuver. The main floor's bedroom and bathroom (which were specially designed to facilitate the needs of the owners' oldest daughter, Stella, who has cerebral palsy) have doors that open outwards and are wider.
All other bedrooms have inward doors at least 75 cm wide and room to maneuver. All bedrooms with twin beds can be 45cm high (with changeable higher legs).
The elevator (cargo lift) provides access to all floors.
It has 80cm X 110cm free space, but must be used only for guests with mobility problems and their assistants at their own responsibility.
A curving, slopping path leads to the pool. Please note that there isn't (yet) a pool-hoist.
Facilities
The villa is fully equipped with all the necessary electrical appliances such as refrigerator, oven, microwave, dish -washer, vacuum cleaner, coffee maker, boiler, toaster, washing machine, hair-dryer
TV and Nova reception plus DVD player and a collection of films and cartoons.

There is also a portable barbecue, an open tower with furhished decks at each floor, a balcony with bamboo furniture, terrace dining-room by the kitchen, a tiled table at the terrace by the pool with chairs, chaise-longes and sun umbrellas.
AREA
Crete is one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean and is also the birthplace of Europe's earliest civilization, the Minoan
that made the island the centre of its sea based trading empire
as early as 2000 BC. Almost everywhere that you travel on the island you will come across reminders of its rich heritage.
But it is also the home of dramatic, almost Alpine landscapes dominated in the west by the appropriately named White Mountains, which sweep down to the fertile plains by the coast and are capped with snow for most of the year. Chania (Hania), located on the western part of the island,
is the first out of the four consecutive non-identical prefectures that comprise the gifted island of Crete. All North coast is a succession of friendly beaches.
The town Chania,
is the spiritual capital of Crete, has one of the most photogenic harbors in Greece
and is dominated by an impressive lighthouse. The large cruciform market here sells a wide variety of local produce from fresh meat and fish to fruits, nuts, spices, wine and olive oil.
The real beauty of this area though lies away from the busier coast and up in the remote villages and hills. Take a trip out to the less well-known areas and you'll be rewarded with a glimpse of a way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries
LOCATION
Chania is 4.5 km away. Lovely coastal Kato Daratsos, Kalamaki (1 km away) is the nearest village with shops.
Chania or Hania
Carefully tailored town planning, broad roads, revitalizing parks and pedestrian zones are the characteristics of the town of Hania, the capital of the prefecture of Hania. Kato Daratsos - Kalamaki
4,5 kilometres west of Chania, this small resort boasts a number of sheltered sandy beaches.
There are a number of small local supermarkets as well as numerous tavernas scattered along the gently shelving beach. Although only 10 minutes by bus or taxi to Chania, the countryside is on your doorstep and the pretty little villages of Galatas or Daratsos will give you an authentic taste of rural Crete, especially if you visit one of their congenial local tavernas where you are guaranteed good food and spontaneous atmosphere. How to get here
You can come by airplane to Chania airport (18 Km), which takes about 45 minutes, or flight to Heraklion airport (111 km), about 2 hours and 30 minutes away.
or by ferry from Athens (9 hours, night over). A car would be necessary

Cleaning
Maid service twice a week (Friday's and Tuesday's) with a change of linen and towels. Additional cleaning can be arranged for between 9-12 euros per hour

PRICING INFORMATION
The maximum number of guests is 15. The rental price for this villa ranges from 1900 euros - 4390 euros per week and covers the stay of 12 persons in all 6 bedrooms. If your group is larger an extra fee of 100 euros will be asked for each additional person.
Prices are quoted in Euro and include rental of your holiday villa, electricity, maid service/cleaning as described, (bed linen and towel service), a welcome food-basket and air-conditioning.
Our hospitality begins with a welcome-basket including all you need for the first meal so you don't have to go shopping from your first day (containing local produce, water, milk, tea and coffee). We will be glad to assist you in any question regarding your holidays or if you would rather prefer, we leave you in total peace!
Price Excludes
Flights and transfers, Car rental, Extra cleaning (payable locally), pool-swimming towels, and heating cost during the off season.
Other Information
Children MUST be supervised at all times at the pool.
Change-over day
Changeover day is usually Saturday and Tuesday, (when there are more charter flights). You can arrive at 14.00, the earliest, and you should departure by 10 pm to allow the cleaning lady time to prepare the house for the next guests.
Reservations
A payment of 10% of the stay is required upon confirmation, and another 40% paid 6 months prior to arrival, with the final payment due 60 days prior to
arrival. For bookings made less than 6 months before arrival, we ask 50% deposit and balance paid 60 days prior to arrival or at time of booking for last minute holidays.
Reservations cancelled more that 6 months before the arrival date incurr a 10% cancellation charge.
Reservations cancelled more that 2 months before the arrival date incurr a 30% cancellation charge.
Reservations cancelled more that 45 days before the arrival date incurr a 50% cancellation charge.
Cancellations within 45 days of the arrival date are non-refundable, however, we will do our best to secure a new booking - even offering discounts - and will provide a refund if an alternative rental is secured.
No-shows or early departures are charged at 100%.
Deposits
A deposit security if 1000 euros is required to be paid directly in cash to the property owner upon arrival at the property. This cash deposit will be refunded at the end of the rental period, less any additional expenses and damage that might be done to the property.
Catani Villa is managed by its owners Kostas and Katerina, who will meet and greet you on arrival at the villa with keys and useful local information, and will be happy to offer help and advice to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
